This battery seems to have a good life, but takes VERY long to re-charge (4 hours average)

I purchased this product based on the precious few reviews and the specifications. I don't know if the product is defective or not because Amazon would only refund my money, not exchange the product. After charging the battery pack (all four lights on solid), I installed my iPhone. Within a couple of hours, the battery pack was no longer powering the phone even though, when I plugged it up it showed about half charge. I let it charge over night. Again, the next morning, after about two hours, the battery pack turned off. I plugged the cable back in and let it charge again. This happened one more time and I discovered that when I plugged in the cable for just a moment it stared powering the iPhone again but the power lights indicated that it was at about 3/4 charge. I tried one more time and the same thing happened. The lights on the back still showed about half charge even though I wasn't using the iPhone hardly at all that day. After charging it up one last time without the phone, I let it sit over night (without the iPhone installed). The next morning it was almost completely discharged-one light was on solid.

I'm not sure I want to take a chance on another one.

UPDATE:

A few hours after I left the review above (Tuesday April 6), I got a call from Imaxpower. They "fervently requested" that I give them another chance because if people saw the bad review, then no one would want to buy their product. They wanted to send me a new unit, one that they would test before they sent it out. I agreed.

I received it yesterday afternoon (Thursday April 8) and am currently testing it. So far, it seems promising. It had about a half charge when I got it. I started charging it and let it get over 75% charge (4th light flashing) and then had to disconnect and get busy. The unit seemed to power the iPhone until bedtime (well over the two hour time period I experienced on the previous unit). I disconnected the iPhone from the battery pack to charge the iphone (I always charge it over night whether it needs it or not so that it has a full charge the next morning), I always keep the iPhone close to me and I don't sleep near the computer which is where the battery pack charging cable is connected. The battery pack was NOT on a charger over night. When I got up this morning and plugged the phone into the battery pack was still charged enough to power the iPhone (less than 25% charge-one light on) but I had an errand to run and by the time I finished (approx 2 hours) the battery pack had discharged enough that it was no longer powering the iPhone. When I got home I plugged it in and it is now charging. It seems to be charging somewhat slowly-it has gone from basically no charge to between 25% and 50% (second light flashing).

As I said, it seems promising. I will continue testing for a day or two more and report back. It is definitely doing better than the first unit but time will provide a more complete picture. This is mid-morning Friday April 9. I will try to give a final update on Monday April 12.

UPDATE: UPDATE:

I have had a chance to test the IMP190 over the weekend. I would have to say that it works as stated. The only issue I have now is that it takes a long time to charge. I would recommend charging on a charger connected directly to the wall electrical outlet without the iPhone installed in the battery pack. From almost empty charge to full charge, plugged into wall outlet, iPhone not installed, took 7-8 hours. Plugged into computer USB port took way too long--took over 6 hours and was only between 50% and 75% charged. With iPhone installed it will take even longer!

I didn't get a chance to see if it actually doubles iPhone battery times at it claims since my usage was not in a normal pattern over the weekend. However I can says that it is a significant improvement in operating time with the battery pack connected. Oh, one thing I did check, the battery pack doesn't discharge significantly, if any, over night when the iPhone is not installed as the first one did.

If the charge time were faster (say, as fast as the iPhone) I would give it a five star rating! Four stars for slow charging.

I purchased 2 of these, one for my phone and one for hubby's phone and neither work. The first one worked for half a day and the second never worked. Save your money.

Revised review. I received a call from Imaxpower and they requested that I give them another chance. They wanted to send me a new charger for me to give a try. I received the new case today. So far this one is working great. I will keep you posted. I do have to say Imaxpower is very willing to work with you.

Since most all Micro SD cards are manufactured in Asia, no matter how branded, one may wonder if they are buying the real deal or a knock off. Many knock off's look just like trusted brands. Even now, there are Micro SD cards labeled 8G, but actually only 2G. There are a ton of "Micro" SD cards labeled MICRO, but manufactured by several different companies, including respected brands.

So how do you determine if you bought the real deal? Bench testing not much good in this area and checking the properties not so much either. I have found a very useful tool for varifing data integrity of flash drives/cards. Its free, no install, works from the executable, some even call it the Gold Standard of flash drive verification.

H2testw -- by Harald Bögeholz / c't Magazin für Computertechnik Data integrity test for USB sticks and other media Version 1.4, Copyright (C) 2008 Heise Zeitschriften Verlag GmbH & Co. KG.

You will need to Google Harald Bögeholz for the URL (can't post in review), it's a zip file. Runs in English or German. Test time varies with card size,Class state of integrity and PC being used.

NOTE: ALWAYS BACK UP YOUR DATA! H2testw is suppose to only write in free space, but don't take a chance, back up your data.

Another good program is Flash Drive/Card Tester v1.14 from Virtual Console and free. Download, install and run. Again, back up your data.

Now you can know if you bought a good flash drive, its actual size, and whether its error free.

I have bought some flash drives that were knock off's and lost data. Testing is worth the time invested.

Cons?
No where near class 10. Copy to the card goes from 1.5 MB/s to 4.5 MB/s. If I had a replacement lying here I would return this item in a heartbeat.

I bought this for my Evo 4g, and it works wonderfully. Write speed consistently benchmarked at 10.3 mbs. Save yourself an extra $20 and the guesswork if whether or not it's actually a class ten you're getting, (Lexar no longer identifies which class memory their cards are) and get this one. It works reliably as advertised, and both the adapter sleeves are a nice addition.

Great range, as advertised. I ran out of living room testing and had to back up the stairs. It started to get flaky after about 30 feet and died just a few steps further back. Note: I had the USB receiver on a front port of the computer; if it's on the back the tower itself can block signal and cut your range down a bit. Walls kill it very fast, too, but it's not often you'll be using this kind of thing around a corner.

It's surprisingly well built for some cheap blister-packed Chinese electronics. It looks and feels very clean.

The backlit keypad makes it great for use in a dark room. The orange color also doesn't screw with night vision as badly as blue or white. Unfortunately, it doesn't turn on with just any keypress... you need to double-press the RF button to turn it on, so you'll still have to peck at a specific button in the dark.

The touchpad mouse is nice. It doesn't support any of the new "double touch" features that newer laptops have, but you can double click icons or click and hold to drag and drop or highlight text just like you'd expect. Two actual mouse buttons are just underneath to take care of anything else, but you'll usually never need them.

Many folks have been complaining about the keyboard, and I agree with a few of their comments. Specifically, things like not having a tab button, or deciding to give the [\-|] a dedicated key instead of a far more used [/-?] In addition there is no true "shift" button; it's a shift-lock. You click it, enter the letter you want in caps, then click it off. This is all however just a minor inconvenience as these kinds of controllers aren't intended for writing novels. They're remote controls for presentations, or PC home theatres where you should only need to be entering the occasional URL or password. If you're going to be doing a lot of typing, get a full-size wireless keyboard with a mouse built in.

The buttons do make a pretty audible clicking noise. They're not silent soft-touch buttons like a TV remote. It's a bit more noticeable than my keyboard. Not something that concerns me for my use, but again worth disclosing.

The remote goes to sleep on its own pretty quickly to conserve the battery. You'll pick it up and notice the mouse is unresponsive. Tapping the touchpad doesn't seem to wake it... so you'll have to press a mouse button or the space bar to wake it up. A minor thing, but worth disclosing; it might annoy some users greatly.

The rechargeable battery may be a pro or con depending on who you ask. You do have to occasionally plug it in, and if it's dead you can't just throw a new set of AAs in it. This can be a pain in the arse if you don't have a place to dock it. Kept in a laptop bag for presentations you'll need to remember to plug it in beforehand. For an entertainment center you can keep the cable plugged in to the PC or console when you're done with it and always know where the remote is. (Or pick up a USB wall adapter if you don't already have one that came with your cell phone and leave it plugged in on the table next to the couch when not in use.)

Overall, if you're looking for a portable pointer with the added function of an almost-full keyboard this thing is fantastic; better than even some $100+ devices we've tried selling themselves as "presentation pointers" and the like. This sleek little black keypad is perfect as the "remote" for my PC entertainment center, just don't expect it to replace a full keyboard and playing Starcraft II from your couch.

Four stars over five due to the few tiny quirks, and the fact that my hand gets downright crampy trying to use the touchpad mouse while holding the thing like a calculator for extended periods of time.

I have a Mac Mini connected to my HDTV and I purchased this wireless keypad/touchpad to control the computer while watching TV on our couch. Previously, we had a Compaq computer connected to the same HDTV display and used a full size wireless keyboard with a trackball built in to the keyboard to operate the computer. This Mini Multimedia Keyboard is a thousand times better. I have no complaints. It's small. Easy to use. Had no problem getting it to work. The Mac Mini recognized it immediately. The touchpad is the best feature. It's super easy to mouse around the screen and you can tap the touchpad to click (it also has right and left click buttons). Typing is easily done as well for a keyboard this small. It doesn't compare to typing on a full size keyboard but I didn't expect it to. It stays connected to the computer without interruption while using it. And the battery (chargeable via a USB cable) stays charged for as long as we've needed it. I couldn't be more thrilled. Especially since I totally bought this on faith. No reviews at the time of purchase. Hopefully this review will give you the confidence to purchase. Unbeatable deal at any price so it's especially nice that it costs less than half of what other wireless keyboard solutions are going for. Great solution for remote control of a computer. Especially if you are using your computer to watch TV.

This is a tough device to review. It has a lot of pluses, and a lot of minuses. Let me give you the skinny:

1. This is really designed for a home theater PC. This is NOT a replacement for a mouse and keyboard. If you are looking for something like that, then keep looking.

2. While the quality of the device is not top-notch, it is fine for its intended use. I use this device to navigate Amazon UNBOX and the web on my Media PC in my living room. It is a good, not great, device for this task. I am fine with the PS3 controller for Blu-ray, Netflix, etc.; however, I have tried navigating Netflix, Blu-ray, etc. on said PC and everything worked fine.

3. The Taskpad is slow. This is common for all Taskpad-based devices - not so much with Track-ball ones. I set the mouse to max speed and it is tolerable. Once again, this is NOT a replacement for a true keyboard and mouse.

4. I do like the fact that the device charges from any mini USB cable and requires no drivers or setup - it is essentially a PS/2 mouse and keyboard for Windows.

5. There is no true backlight, regardless of whatever the packaging or description says. This can be annoying in a very dark room, but in my personal experience, there is enough light to use this for basic functions.

6. Lastly, there is price. Realistically, this is a fairly inexpensive device when you start looking at alternatives, so keep that in mind.

Overall, I would buy this device again. Is is great? No, but it is very convenient and small. If the statements above describe your needs, then you should give it a go.

NOTE: This device works on almost any Windows PC/laptop. I have NOT tested it on a Mac.

After I installed a new DSL internet service using my phone lines I had a zillion cables all tangled together. I ran the two phone lines from the splitter at the jack in one tube and the power lines in a second. That kept the phone lines and power lines separate to minimize interference. No more tangles. I also used a length of tubing from my laptop to my TV to consolidate the video and audio cables (pre-2010 MacBook); it eliminates tangles when I am using and stowing them. Since it is relatively large and stiff it would even be useful in running a single cable if you need to plug and unplug it. I did find the zipper a bit confusing at first but once I figured it out it worked very well.

As I commented in another review, I seem to be one of the few people who really like the iLuv i1166, more than the company itself seems to. This case used to be a $3 item from the OEM, but they haven't had any for ages. I was glad to find this listed by a third-party brand, even at a relatively high price.

The iLuv i1166 is an odd shape, longer and thicker than most portable DVD players. This is because it also has a slot for an iPod or iPhone, which is of course its distinction - just about the only product out there that gives you a bigger screen to watch movies on an iPhone without squinting. This case, of course, fits it perfectly, unlike any other I've found.

I don't see why iLuv doesn't just include the case (and some screen protector films) with the product itself, but they don't, and in fact seem to support it minimally in general. I'll keep using mine until it breaks, though, which should be a little less soon due to this case.

If charging 4 batteries at the same time, the output of this device is 225 mah. This figure is plainly printed on the back of the product. DO THE MATH. If you try to recharge 4 batteries at a time, the recharge time will be more than 12 hours.

This charger while low in price, especially with all of the accessories, is not a great value due to the fact of it not being able to charge the batteries unless they are completely dead. If batteries are only half worn down and you want to top them off - this charger is not for you. Everything else works great, but with this disadvantage it makes the charger almost worthless unless you go out and buy a second set of back up batteries to have on standby. Even then, your first set must be TOTALLY dead (not easily accomplished & time consuming) before this charger will recharge them.

Very good product to have when you have so many battery powered devices. Batteries are one of the higher capacity NiMh batteries, boasting 2900 mAh, a must for model race cars and high intensity flash systems for cameras. I wished the battery voltage was higher and comprable to NiZn batteries (1.7v).
