This battery seems to have a good life, but takes VERY long to re-charge (4 hours average)

I purchased this product based on the precious few reviews and the specifications. I don't know if the product is defective or not because Amazon would only refund my money, not exchange the product. After charging the battery pack (all four lights on solid), I installed my iPhone. Within a couple of hours, the battery pack was no longer powering the phone even though, when I plugged it up it showed about half charge. I let it charge over night. Again, the next morning, after about two hours, the battery pack turned off. I plugged the cable back in and let it charge again. This happened one more time and I discovered that when I plugged in the cable for just a moment it stared powering the iPhone again but the power lights indicated that it was at about 3/4 charge. I tried one more time and the same thing happened. The lights on the back still showed about half charge even though I wasn't using the iPhone hardly at all that day. After charging it up one last time without the phone, I let it sit over night (without the iPhone installed). The next morning it was almost completely discharged-one light was on solid.

I'm not sure I want to take a chance on another one.

UPDATE:

A few hours after I left the review above (Tuesday April 6), I got a call from Imaxpower. They "fervently requested" that I give them another chance because if people saw the bad review, then no one would want to buy their product. They wanted to send me a new unit, one that they would test before they sent it out. I agreed.

I received it yesterday afternoon (Thursday April 8) and am currently testing it. So far, it seems promising. It had about a half charge when I got it. I started charging it and let it get over 75% charge (4th light flashing) and then had to disconnect and get busy. The unit seemed to power the iPhone until bedtime (well over the two hour time period I experienced on the previous unit). I disconnected the iPhone from the battery pack to charge the iphone (I always charge it over night whether it needs it or not so that it has a full charge the next morning), I always keep the iPhone close to me and I don't sleep near the computer which is where the battery pack charging cable is connected. The battery pack was NOT on a charger over night. When I got up this morning and plugged the phone into the battery pack was still charged enough to power the iPhone (less than 25% charge-one light on) but I had an errand to run and by the time I finished (approx 2 hours) the battery pack had discharged enough that it was no longer powering the iPhone. When I got home I plugged it in and it is now charging. It seems to be charging somewhat slowly-it has gone from basically no charge to between 25% and 50% (second light flashing).

As I said, it seems promising. I will continue testing for a day or two more and report back. It is definitely doing better than the first unit but time will provide a more complete picture. This is mid-morning Friday April 9. I will try to give a final update on Monday April 12.

UPDATE: UPDATE:

I have had a chance to test the IMP190 over the weekend. I would have to say that it works as stated. The only issue I have now is that it takes a long time to charge. I would recommend charging on a charger connected directly to the wall electrical outlet without the iPhone installed in the battery pack. From almost empty charge to full charge, plugged into wall outlet, iPhone not installed, took 7-8 hours. Plugged into computer USB port took way too long--took over 6 hours and was only between 50% and 75% charged. With iPhone installed it will take even longer!

I didn't get a chance to see if it actually doubles iPhone battery times at it claims since my usage was not in a normal pattern over the weekend. However I can says that it is a significant improvement in operating time with the battery pack connected. Oh, one thing I did check, the battery pack doesn't discharge significantly, if any, over night when the iPhone is not installed as the first one did.

If the charge time were faster (say, as fast as the iPhone) I would give it a five star rating! Four stars for slow charging.

I purchased 2 of these, one for my phone and one for hubby's phone and neither work. The first one worked for half a day and the second never worked. Save your money.

Revised review. I received a call from Imaxpower and they requested that I give them another chance. They wanted to send me a new charger for me to give a try. I received the new case today. So far this one is working great. I will keep you posted. I do have to say Imaxpower is very willing to work with you.
