quality doesn't seem up to what my old kbar was, but i'm not totally displeased. the serrations are inaccurate, it sticks in the sheath, but it's still a great knife overall. i wish they stuck to a couple good models instead of trying to please everyone.

I have been all over and put many knives to their graves, but this knife IS the exception! This knife is everything I want in a survival tool and a great price!
I picked up this model and 1211. the 1221 is notably heavier and it DOES in fact shave right out of the box with hardly any pressure (a great testament to the 20degree angle of the blade), this is one of the few knives i will not toy around with due to its sharpness. the 1211 is slightly lighter and has a narrower tang entering the handle, its weight and balance make it a very sturdy throwing knife. The 1221 has solid weight behind the guard and its blade's tang entering the handle is over 2/3 the width of the full structure of the blade and a thick heavy pommel make it VERY solid in your hand and adds a backweight that keeps you feeling comfortable about putting it through whatever trails you wish and having it pass with flying colors. YOU CAN RELY ON THIS KNIFE!!!!!

I received my Next Generation knife today. This knife is everything I was hoping it would be. It feels really good in my hand. It seems really durable and the blade is sharp right out of the box. I will be purchasing KaBar again in the very near future.
